“Forged in Fire“

After the Thomas Fire, I went back to the ruins of my former home and collected a charred beam of wood from the rubble. I ground it down to powder, mixed it with acrylic medium, using it as the back background for this painting, two other Phoenix paintings and a number of others I brought back to life after the fact. This was my way of capturing that Phoenix rising energy. All that was, melted, through will and grace, emerged anew, like this golden phoenix with a crystal heart and mind.
